In 2018 Frank Smith was commissioned to create new office accommodation for the housing division of Tower Hamlets Council. The division had 300 staff who needed to be moved to a new building. It was important that particular departments, which regularly exchanged information, should be close to each other; on the other hand, some division such as the finance office needed to be separate and secure, while not being secluded.
Elements of the brief included:
The space for the whole project was about 1,000 sq m.
Tower Hamlets Council successfully moved their people into the new office, which took about six months to procure.
In 2017 Champs Consultants, an accounting firm bought a dilapidated high street shop and appointed Frank Smith to obtain permission for change of use and to redesign the interiors, including new furniture and office layouts, décor and lighting. Frank Smith were appointed to oversee the construction work from start to finish.
At any time Frank Smith will have several projects on its books, some of which are in active progress and some of which will be waiting for planning decisions and other factors. There will be a great variety of projects, but they share a common thread: owners have a problem with their property and need Frank Smith to solve it.
Commercial jobs tend to be defined by financial needs – meeting business targets. Home improvements call for a personal touch, and the job arises from the needs of individuals and their families. Frank Smith responds to both these challenges, always aiming to create a better environment for people’s lives or work.
